Bronze, the first version was in cast granite.
180 x 75 x 50 cm.
The original, natural stone statue was an initiative of Peter de Lijser. It was donated by him and the Association of Owners of the apartment complex Residence De Sluuswachter to the then municipality of Oostburg. The current, bronze copy was commissioned by the municipality of Oostburg.
The statue was unveiled on 21 November 1987 by the deputy mayor of Oostburg, J.P.S.A. Thomaes, after the opening of Residence De Sluuswachter. However, on the night of 28 to 29 July 1994, the statue was violently pulled from its pedestal and was irreparably damaged. The current, replacement statue was unveiled on 20 December 2000 by alderman R. Leentfaar.
