On the border of Limburg and North Brabant, northwest of Weert, lies the Weerterbos. The area consists of wet and dry forests, grassland parcels, and small heath fields. Scattered throughout are restored peat bogs, and centrally located in the area is the nature reserve formed from the grassland enclave of the former farm De Grashut. Two unpaved roads of compacted earth/gravel run through the area, which are included in the cycling junction network (and thus also well-suited for cycling with a racing bike with a minimum of 25 mm puncture-resistant tires).
