The Oude Buisse Heide estate was donated to Natuurmonumenten in 1945 by visual artist Rik Roland Holst and his wife, poet Henriëtte Roland Holst. There are three buildings here that are inextricably linked: The Buisse Hoeve, the Angora Farm, the summer residence of the couple and designed by the artist himself, and the Studio of Rik Roland Holst, a design by Margaret Staal-Kropholler.De more than 200 years old Buisse Hoeve, with the Herenkamer as the central space, was used by the couple to receive their many guests such as architect H.P. Berlage, painter Charley Toorop and poet Herman Gorter. From 1900 until Henriëtte's death in 1952 they spent many summers on the estate.
