The Aa or Weerijs

Source: Gilbert van Schoonbekepad / De Wandelmaker

Description

This river starts as a stream in the vicinity of Brecht and Wuustwezel, Belgium. After 36 km, the water in Breda (name would come from Brede-Aa) reaches the canals of the city and finally flows into the river De Mark. The name Weerijs comes from the French: 'Wegreyse'. The banks of the river will be made more attractive for cyclists and walkers in the coming years. The water is also popular with canoeists.
