Wassenaar Zoo was a zoo located in Wassenaar, Netherlands. Opened in 1937, it failed to achieve a satisfactory economic equilibrium and had to close in 1985. The Wassenaar Wildlife Breeding Centre, opened in 1983, specialising in breeding cheetahs and about forty other species, such as Temminck's cat and numerous species of turtles such as the Seychelles giant tortoise, survived the zoo's closure, but also had to close in 2006.
