This vineyard is operated by Wijndomein Mergelsberg and was planted in the spring of 2020.
The Vroelenderhaag vineyard has 1000 vines of Pinot Noir, 500 vines of Merlot and 500 vines of Cabernet, which together yield about 3000 kilograms of blue grapes. Of these, about 2250 bottles of red wine are produced. In addition, 400 vines of Sauvignon Blanc and 400 vines of Semillon grapes have been planted, accounting for about 750 bottles of white wine.
The first two meters of the subsoil consists of gravel, which provides excellent drainage. Underneath this soil package (geologically called the Hoogcruts Formation, which was brought in by the East Meuse 2.2 million years ago) lies the limestone known in Noorbeek, the Gulpener Cretaceous. This limestone, in combination with the southwest-facing slope, creates a beautiful interplay to receive the right water demand and sun intensity. This limestone was created 68 million years ago and ensures the correct mineralogical structure of the grapes in all vineyards in Noorbeek.
