The Liendense Waard is a nature development area in the floodplains of the Meuse between Batenburg and Niftrik. The area was developed by Rijkswaterstaat as part of the Room for the River project. An old Meuse arm that had been closed during the canalization of the Meuse was deepened again and some new pools were excavated. The entire site up to the dike now serves as an overflow area.
