Oud-Charlois is the historical core of the Rotterdam district of Charlois. Oud-Charlois is bounded by Dorpsweg in the east, Kromme Zandweg in the south, the railway yard of Waalhaven-Oostzijde in the west, and the Nieuwe Maas in the north.
In 1460, Charles the Bold commissioned the diking of the Rijerwaert polder. When he approved the deed of transfer of the Rijerwaert polder to four landowners on April 14, 1462, he attached two conditions to it, namely that:
