The route starts in Munstergeleen at the church. In short, you cycle:
- over the plateau of Doenrade with a few climbs that are less common in routes in this area (and also quite a few roads closed to motor traffic),
- briefly through the urban area of Brunssum and Heerlen (over a distance of 3 km),
- along the Brunssummerheide (a beautiful stretch with roads closed to motor traffic),
- through the beautiful green Anstelvallei with a number of climbs,
- through the Wormdal both on the Dutch and German side, with sharp climbs and the beautiful surroundings of Rimburg,
- through the valley of the Rodebach in Germany over an asphalted cycle path,
- again over the plateau of Doenrade including a less common climb (the Hagedoornweg) in routes in this area.
You cycle several times over hollow roads, after a rainy period and windy weather, the road surface can be dirty and strewn with twigs and branches.

A detailed description of the route follows below.

You first cycle over the plateau of Doenrade with the climbs of the Stokselweg, the Hondskerk, and after the descent of the Slakweg, the route goes to Schinnen. On and around the plateau of Doenrade, several roads are closed to motor traffic (except for agricultural traffic). These are often hollow roads, and therefore after a rainy period and windy weather, the road surface can be dirty and strewn with twigs and branches. At the height of the Alfa brewery, you climb the Mulderswegske and in Oirsbeek also the Douvenderweg. You descend to Amstenrade and cycle to Brunssum.

The passage through Brunssum is only a few kilometers long, and between Brunssum and Heerlen you cycle over a (bumpy but otherwise good) asphalted cycle path through a small nature reserve. Then you have to cycle another kilometer and a half through a Heerlen neighborhood, and after that, you cycle over good asphalt roads (closed to motor traffic) and concrete cycle paths along the Brunssummerheide. Via the Landgraaf district Abdisschenbosch (one and a half kilometers), you cycle to Waubach. From Waubach you cycle towards Eygelshoven often on roads closed to motor traffic.

In Eygelshoven, the Corverberg follows (max. 10%), then you cross the Anstelvallei with the descent of the Kaffeberg, the climb of the Klarenanstel, you pass Castle Erenstein and climb Mont Chèvre. You descend the valley of the Worm via the Kerkraadse district Chèvremont (one and a half kilometers is the passage through this district) and climb out again via the Beerenbosch. After that, you pass Abbey Rolduc and descend the steep Duivelse Bos (note: concrete blocks in the descent narrowing the cycle path, and steep descent (up to 15%)!).
You enter Germany and climb the Wildnis. Then you descend again (partly through a sloping forest) to the Wormdal and return to the Netherlands in Rimburg, where you have two beautiful climbs through sloping forest: the Hoolgrub and the Molenweg. The climbs around the Wormdal are sharp (10% or sometimes a bit more) but not really long.

The route goes back into Germany and along very quiet roads you cycle past the NATO airfield Geilenkirchen and via Panneschopp to the valley of the Rodebach. Here you follow 7 km of good asphalted cycle path through the valley of the Rodebach. At Etzenrade, you are back in the Netherlands and go via Jabeek back over the border to Germany and climb the Hillensberg. This means you come back over the plateau of Doenrade again.

Back in the Netherlands, you cycle from Doenrade to Bingelrade and climb the Horbies. The route goes to Oirsbeek and there you have the climb of the Hagendoornweg, another typical hollow road on the plateau of Doenrade. Via Windraak you descend the Schelberg-north and then you are quickly back at the endpoint in Munstergeleen.
