St. Joseph's Asylum ( former convent of the Teresian Order ): The "Asilo de Inválidos de S. José" was the replacement of the convent of Santa Teresa, dissolved and confiscated by the famous liberal law of 1834.
It was founded by Archbishop Gaspar de Bragança (1758-1789) who donated it to Senhorinha de Sant'Ana, a former Dominican. The renovation began in 1763 and the church in question was consecrated in 1766. With a sober façade, it was divided into three blocks.
The stylistic analysis of the formal elements of the portal and windows led Robert Smith to attribute his authority to André Soares.
