Kamphaeng Phet was an important strategic outpost of the Sukhothai Kingdom and later the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The city was strongly fortified with walls, battlements and fortress. This bastion is located on the southern city wall. A local information board states since it is in the European style, one can presume that the construction period was between the 14th - 15th centuries CE. In my opinion, the design of the fortified city wall with bastions is from the hand of the French. In 1685 CE, the French engineer de La Mare arrived with the de Chaumont - de Choisy embassy and remained in Siam at King Narai's request to build fortifications. The fortifications likely belonged to that period.
