La estación del Norte de Bruselas fue, junto con la estación de Malinas, una de las primeras estaciones de tren en Bélgica. El primer tren también circuló entre Bruselas y Malinas. La primera estación de la que partió el tren no estaba exactamente aquí, sino en Bruselas-Groendreef. Desde Groendreef, así que en 1835 salió el primer tren de una vía pública en el continente europeo.
