El Museo Real del África Central, uno de los museos más visitados del país, fue construido bajo Leopoldo II, por el arquitecto Charles Girault. El edificio mide 125 m de largo y 75 m de ancho. La fachada está orientada hacia los jardines franceses. En el lado este de estos jardines franceses se instaló en 1997 un grupo escultórico de Tom Frantzen con motivo del centenario de la Exposición Colonial. El monumento "The Congo, I presume. Congo-Tervuren 1897-1997" está destinado como una expresión artística del pasado belga en el Congo y rinde homenaje a la belleza intrínseca de los guerreros africanos.
