El Fuerte Sint-Jan era un fuerte junto a Trompwal entre Kemzeke y Kapellebrug en el territorio del municipio de Stekene. El fuerte formaba parte de las Líneas de los Estados y Españoles.
El fuerte Sint-Jan fue construido a raíz de los acontecimientos durante los primeros años de la Guerra de los Ochenta Años, cuando Gante y Amberes se unieron a la Unión de Utrecht en 1579. En 1583, además, los Estados habían perforado las diques en Saaftinge. En respuesta a esto, Parma ordenó la construcción de fuertes y un puente de barco sobre el Escalda, para impedir el abastecimiento de Amberes. Desde el Fuerte Sint-Jan se cavó el Parmavaart hacia la zona inundada. Así, se aseguraron las conexiones de navegación hacia Gante y Hulst.
