Il Fort Sint-Jan era un forte presso Trompwal, tra Kemzeke e Kapellebrug, nel territorio del comune di Stekene. Il forte faceva parte delle Linee Spagnole.
Il forte Sint-Jan fu costruito in seguito agli sviluppi durante i primi anni della Guerra degli Ottanta Anni, quando Gand e Anversa si unirono all'Unione di Utrecht nel 1579. Nel 1583, inoltre, gli Olandesi avevano sfondato le dighe a Saaftinge. In risposta a ciò, Parma fece costruire forti e un ponte navale sullo Schelda per impedire il rifornimento di Anversa. Dal Fort Sint-Jan fu scavato il Parmavaart verso l'area allagata. In questo modo si garantì un collegamento navale con Gand e Hulst.
