En 1830, Carolus Strubbe dejó Tielt para probar su suerte en Ichtegem. Allí se convirtió de inmediato en agricultor y cervecero. En verano trabajaba en el campo, en invierno estaba en la sala de malteado y junto a la cuba de fermentación. Hoy, siete generaciones después, los Strubbe siguen firmemente al mando de su cervecería. Un total de 14 cervezas vieron la luz aquí. Desde la suave cerveza blanca Vlaskop hasta la cerveza ámbar de alta fermentación Dikke Mathilde, pasando por Wittoen, aromatizada con gruut, el precursor medieval del lúpulo. Por supuesto, Ichtegem pronto demostró ser demasiado pequeño. Hoy en día, también puedes disfrutar de un Strubbetelg en Japón, América o incluso Rusia. ¡Cerveza que sabe a éxito, entonces!
