Los documentos indican que este antiguo molino de agua fue construido antes del año 1302. Es seguro que el molino se convirtió en propiedad del conde Lamoraal de Egmont en 1544. Hoy, Natuurpunt Zwalmvallei le da la bienvenida en este molino. El 11 de mayo de 2014, el Boembekemolen -tras una larga restauración- fue reactivado. Ahora es una base para formas suaves de recreación y para el desarrollo, la experiencia y la educación sobre la naturaleza en el valle de Zwalm.
