Kaatschen es parte de Kaatschen-Weichau, un barrio de la comunidad de Großheringen en el distrito de Weimarer Land en Turingia.
Kaatschen se encuentra al este del Saale y de la línea de tren Berlín-Múnich, directamente a la orilla del río y al norte de Camburg y al sur de Bad Sulza. El término del pueblo se sitúa en tierras de albufera en la llanura fluvial y en suelos de weathering de muschelkalk en las laderas. A través de una carretera de conexión, al cruzar un paso fluvial y ferroviario hacia Weichau, el lugar está conectado con la carretera estatal 1061. Desde allí se accede a las carreteras federales 87 y 88. La ruta ciclista Saale pasa por el pueblo.
