La iglesia es muy notable; pertenece a la transición del románico al gótico y tiene la forma de una cruz griega, tan ancha como larga. Ocho elegantes torres le dan la apariencia de un castillo. Su portal está decorado con hermosas esculturas góticas. La aguja que se elevaba sobre el edificio fue destruida en 1574. Los autores suponen que esta iglesia fue construida por los templarios y que otra iglesia parroquial, hace mucho tiempo destruida, se encontraba en el centro de la ciudad.
