La villa fue construida en 1890-1891 según el diseño de Edmond De Vigne para la pareja de pintores Adrien Demont y Virginie Demont-Breton. Estaban fascinados por el antiguo Egipto y, aunque nunca habían estado allí, obtuvieron su sabiduría del libro "Description de l'Égypte", un estudio muy extenso como resultado de la expedición a Egipto de Napoleón Bonaparte. De 1910 a 1911, la villa fue ampliada con un monumental edificio de entrada, inspirado en la puerta del complejo del templo de Dendera.
