En Urrugne ya existía un lugar de culto en el siglo X, pero el edificio fue destruido a principios del siglo XVI. La iglesia fue completamente reconstruida hacia 1550 en estilo renacentista. También está influenciada por la arquitectura cultural de Guipúzcoa.
El campanario del pórtico, de 45 metros de altura, está decorado en su fachada sur con un reloj de sol con el lema "Vulnerant omnes, ultima necat", "Todas las horas duelen, la última mata". El interior merece una visita por su grandeza y su coro decorado con tapices de los monjes de Belloc. Está catalogado como Monumento Histórico desde 1925.
