In Urrugne bestond al in de 10e eeuw een bedehuis, maar het gebouw werd in het begin van de 16e eeuw verwoest. De kerk werd rond 1550 volledig herbouwd in renaissancestijl. Het werd ook beïnvloed door de culturele architectuur van Guipuzcoa.
De 45 meter hoge portaalklokkentoren is op de zuidelijke gevel versierd met een zonnewijzer met het motto "Vulnerant omnes, ultima necat", "Alle uren kwetsen de laatste". Het interieur is een bezoek waard vanwege de grandeur en het met wandtapijten van de monniken van Belloc versierde koor. Het staat sinds 1925 op de monumentenlijst.
