Este edificio, conocido como la Chapelle Saint-Genest, era originalmente una mansión gótica construida en el siglo XII. En la esquina de la rue d'Enfer y la rue de la Jurue se encontraba la casa vecina, conocida en la tradición metzana como la vivienda de Rabelais durante su estancia en Metz de 1542 a 1547. Hoy en día sólo quedan una puerta y una ventana adosadas al muro, al fondo del pequeño jardín.
