Construido en el siglo XIV, forma parte del Grand Rempart de Verdun. Con forma de herradura, también se conoce como Tour du Puty. El nombre de "Plaids" procede de las audiencias judiciales que se celebraban aquí en la Edad Media.

> Las antiguas murallas a lo largo del Canal du Puty y la Tour de l'Islot.
> El Canal du Puty pasa por debajo de la Tour des Plaids. Es uno de los numerosos canales que van del Mosa a Verdún. Estos canales recuerdan la época en que los talleres de curtidores, que trabajaban para el ejército, constituían una parte importante de la actividad industrial de Verdún.
