La calzada romana de Reims a Tréveris, construida en el año 45 a.C. durante el reinado del emperador Claudio, discurría a lo largo del camino. El lugar ha sido objeto de excavaciones científicas y se han instalado paneles didácticos para explicar a los paseantes cómo era la vida en este lugar en la época romana. También merece la pena ver, a tiro de piedra de Chameleux, el pintoresco pueblo francés de Wiliers, construido en un espolón rodeado por una muralla, que probablemente fue construida en época celta o romana.
