La Torre Milard fue construida durante la reconstrucción de las murallas de la ciudad tras el asedio de 1521, siguiendo el ejemplo de las de Langres o Mouzon.
Con un diámetro de 27 metros, encierra una torre de la muralla original del siglo XIII , la Tour de la Bobresse, de 9 metros de diámetro, que se puede ver desde el interior de la torre . La Tour de la Bobresse es el único vestigio que queda de la muralla original.
La Torre Milard es una torre de artillería que hoy en día pertenece al ejército , en concreto al 3er Genie, regimiento todavía presente en Mézières.
