La Sala de Lectura del Museo Británico, situada en el centro del Gran Patio del Museo Británico, solía ser la sala de lectura principal de la Biblioteca Británica. En 1997, esta función se trasladó al nuevo edificio de la Biblioteca Británica en St Pancras, Londres, pero la Sala de Lectura se mantiene en su forma original en el Museo Británico.
Diseñada por Sydney Smirke y inaugurada en 1857, la Sala de Lectura estuvo en uso continuo hasta su cierre temporal por renovación en 1997. Se reabrió en 2000, y desde 2007 hasta 2014 se utilizó para la realización de exposiciones temporales. Desde entonces ha permanecido cerrada mientras su uso futuro sigue siendo objeto de discusión.
