¿Sabías que el paso de montaña Stelvio se inauguró oficialmente en 1825 bajo la mirada del emperador Fernando? A este hecho le acompaña una interesante historia geopolítica. El Imperio Habsburgo había obtenido el dominio de Lombardía 10 años antes (en 1815) en el Congreso de Viena. Y por eso se consideró necesario poder acceder a Lombardía "fácilmente". Así que construyeron un camino de Valtellina a Val Ventoso. Al finalizar, 2500 hombres habían trabajado en él durante 5 años bajo la dirección del arquitecto Carlo Donegani de Brescia.
