Savais-tu que le col de Stelvio a été officiellement ouvert en 1825 sous le regard de l'empereur Ferdinand ? Cet événement est lié à une histoire géopolitique intéressante. L'Empire des Habsbourg avait obtenu la domination de la Lombardie 10 ans auparavant (en 1815) lors du Congrès de Vienne. C'est pourquoi il était nécessaire de pouvoir atteindre la Lombardie "facilement". On a donc construit une route de Valtellina à Val Ventoso. À l'achèvement, 2500 hommes y avaient travaillé pendant 5 ans sous la direction de l'architecte Carlo Donegani de Brescia.
