El nombre del castillo Neubourg se menciona en un documento de 1289. Sin embargo, este castillo estaba ubicado en otro lugar, ahora llamado burggraverhof. Pasará más tarde por aquí. El castillo actual fue construido en el siglo XIV, el edificio consta de 3 partes: la casa principal, el patio exterior y la granja. Tras haber tenido múltiples funciones, ahora está parcialmente vacío. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial fue utilizado como el cuartel general del ejército estadounidense. El general Montgomery y la estrella de cine Clark Gable se alojaron aquí. Incluso el zar Pedro el Grande de Rusia estuvo de visita aquí el 17 de junio de 1721.
