Il nome dello castello Neubourg è citato in un documento del 1289. Questo castello si trovava però in un'altra posizione, ora chiamata burggraverhof. Qui passerete più tardi. L'attuale castello fu costruito nel quattordicesimo secolo, l'edificio è composto da 3 parti; la casa padronale, la corte anteriore e la fattoria. Dopo aver avuto diverse funzioni, ora è in parte vuoto. Durante la seconda guerra mondiale è stato utilizzato come quartier generale dell'esercito americano. Il generale Montgomery e l'attore Clark Gable vi hanno soggiornato. Anche lo zar Pietro il Grande di Russia è stato qui in visita il 17 giugno 1721.
