Der Name Schloss Neubourg wird in einem Dokument aus 1289 erwähnt. Dieses Schloss befand sich jedoch an einem anderen Ort, der heute Burggräfervorhof genannt wird. Hier werden Sie später vorbeikommen. Das gegenwärtige Schloss wurde im vierzehnten Jahrhundert erbaut, das Gebäude besteht aus 3 Teilen: dem Herrenhaus, der Vorburg und dem Hof. Nach mehreren Nutzungen steht es nun teilweise leer. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde es als Hauptquartier der US-Armee genutzt. General Montgomery und Filmstar Clark Gable haben dort übernachtet. Sogar Zar Peter der Große aus Russland hat hier am 17. Juni 1721 zu Besuch gewesen.
