De naam kasteel Neubourg is genoemd in een document uit 1289. Dit kasteel lag echter op een andere plaats, nu burggraverhof genaamd. Hier loopt u later langs. Het tegenwoordige kasteel werd in de veertiende eeuw gebouwd, het gebouw bestaat uit 3 gedeelten; het herenhuis, voorburcht en de hoeve. Na meerdere functies te hebben gehad ligt het nu deels leeg. In de tweede wereld oorlog werd het gebruikt als het hoofdkwartier van het Amerikaanse leger. Generaal Montgomery en filmster Clark Gable hebben er gelogeerd. Zelfs Tsaar Peter de grote uit Rusland is hier op 17 juni 1721 op bezoek geweest.
