Los católicos en Hedel inicialmente contaban con una iglesia de San Willibrordo que en 1571 pasó a la religión reformista, y en 1640 se construyó una nueva iglesia en este lugar.
Los católicos pudieron utilizar desde 1680 una iglesia de granero que se encontraba en la Molendijk. Cuando las religiones fueron equiparadas durante la época francesa, se pudo construir una nueva iglesia. Esta fue erigida en el lugar de la granja del Castillo de Hedel. En 1802 se puso en uso esta iglesia, con la casa parroquial. Este edificio fue destruido en 1944.
