El Tilgrup es un arroyo en gran parte canalizado, que fluye de noreste a suroeste a lo largo de las áreas forestales de Appelscha y Smilde y a través de Dieverveld hacia el Vledder Aa. En parte, el arroyo forma la frontera entre las provincias de Frisia y Drenthe. Una parte de la cuenca del arroyo pertenece al parque natural Drents-Friese Wold. El arroyo fue canalizado a mediados del siglo XX para, junto con el Vledder Aa, encargarse del drenaje del área al suroeste de Smilde.
