Bannberg est un lieu dans la vallée du Puster en Tyrol, ainsi qu'une fraction et une commune cadastrale de la commune d'Assling dans le district de Lienz. Bannberg constitue la partie la plus orientale de la commune, à environ 6 kilomètres en aval d'Assling, et autant en amont de Lienz. Le village se trouve sur le côté nord de la vallée du Puster, sur la terrasse de la vallée à environ 1260 m d'altitude. Il forme un village à part entière et comprend 50 bâtiments avec environ 120 habitants. Le village est traversé par la route de montagne du Puster, les maisons situées plus bas sont appelées Unterdorf.
