Bannberg è una frazione del comune di Assling nel distretto di Lienz, nella Val Pusteria tirolese, nonché frazione e comune catastale del comune di Assling. Bannberg costituisce la parte più orientale del comune, a circa 6 chilometri dalla valle da Assling, così come nella valle da Lienz. Il paese si trova sul lato nord della Val Pusteria, sulla terrazza a valle ad un'altitudine di circa 1260 m sul livello del mare. Forma un villaggio separato e comprende 50 edifici con circa 120 abitanti. Il paese è attraversato dalla Pustertaler Höhenstraße, le case più in basso sono chiamate Unterdorf.
