Ici, dans le centre de Nokere, en 1634, Clara De Vos, ou la Sorcière de Nokere, a été d'abord étranglée puis brûlée sur le bûcher pour sorcellerie. Elle a été accusée d'avoir enchanté des vaches. On disait qu'elle avait aussi fait peur à un enfant de trois ans. Elle lui aurait donné une pomme avec une poudre du diable. On voit ici clairement l'inspiration tirée du conte de Blanche-Neige.
