Qui nel centro di Nokere nel 1634 Clara De Vos, o la Strega di Nokere, fu prima strangolata e poi bruciata sul rogo per stregoneria. Fu accusata di aver stregato delle mucche. Si dice che avesse anche spaventato a morte un bambino di tre anni. Si dice che avesse dato al bambino una mela con una polvere del diavolo. È chiaro che qui l'ispirazione è stata presa dalla fiaba di Biancaneve.
