Ce cimetière militaire à la lisière de la forêt de Houthulst a été créé après la Première Guerre mondiale. Les 1.723 tombes belges proviennent de fosses communes et de petits cimetières des environs. La plupart des soldats sont tombés le 28 ou le 29 septembre 1918, lors de la dernière offensive. Dans ce cimetière, vous trouverez également 81 tombes italiennes. Ces soldats italiens étaient des prisonniers de guerre allemands. Ce cimetière militaire belge est le deuxième plus grand et a un plan en étoile à six branches.
