L’église de Neerlinter est dédiée à Saint Follien. Selon une charte de 1139, cette église existait depuis longtemps. L’église a dû être reconstruite plusieurs fois. Parfois parce qu’elle était trop petite, parfois parce qu’elle avait brûlé (plusieurs fois) ou parce qu’une croix de fer s’était écrasée sur le toit. Aujourd’hui, il faut donc un certain travail de détective pour situer des parties de l’église dans un siècle particulier.
