C’est ici, dans le village de Miavoye, que le célèbre poète flamand Paul van Ostaijen a passé les derniers jours de sa vie, malade de la tuberculose. Il a séjourné ici au sanatorium 'Le Vallon'. Il a travaillé avec Edgar du Perron et Gaston Burssens sur la revue 'Avontuur'. Van Ostaijen meurt seul le 18 mars 1928 des suites de sa maladie. Il fut d’abord enterré à Miavoye-Anthée, mais fut réinhumé au Schoonselhof d’Anvers sur l’insistance de Burssens. Le 8 novembre 1952, il reçoit sa dernière demeure dans le parc d’honneur.
