La colonisation végétale de cette sablière arrêtée depuis la fin des années 1980 est en pleine progression. Le site comprend des étendues de sable encore peu envahies de végétation, une zone humide constituée de plusieurs mares et des flancs plus ou moins arborés selon les endroits.L'intérêt actuel est surtout d'ordre entomologique (entomofaune sabulicole).
