De vegetale kolonisering van deze zandput, die sinds het einde van de jaren 1980 is stilgelegd, is in volle gang. De locatie omvat zandvlakten die nog weinig door vegetatie zijn verstoord, een nat gebied bestaande uit verschillende poelen en flanken die meer of minder bebost zijn, afhankelijk van de locaties. De huidige belangstelling is vooral entomologisch van aard (sabulicole entomofauna).
