L'église Saint-François est une église paroissiale située dans la localité de Merksem, qui fait partie de la commune d'Anvers, sur la Bredabaan. Cette église a été construite entre 1893 et 1896, à une époque où Merksem s'est énormément développé et urbanisé à la suite de l'expansion de la zone portuaire d'Anvers en direction de Merksem. L'agrandissement de l'église Saint-Barthélemy ne suffisait pas et en 1890, une deuxième paroisse fut fondée à Merksem. Grâce aux efforts de l'ancien maire Frans de l'Arbre, l'église fut dédiée à Saint-François. L'église a été construite selon les plans d'Henri Blomme.
