La gare d'Oberhausen-Holten a été une gare pendant environ 80 ans et est aujourd'hui un point d'arrêt. Elle se trouve sur la ligne de chemin de fer Oberhausen–Arnhem, qui fait partie de la soi-disant Betuweroute, une importante liaison ferroviaire pour les trains de marchandises entre la région de la Ruhr et le port de Rotterdam.
Le point d'arrêt est situé à environ deux kilomètres du centre du quartier d'Oberhausen-Holten, à la périphérie du quartier de Schmachtendorf.
