Le Mémorial de l'Unité Allemande, également appelé Mémorial « Allemagne divisée », ainsi qu'après son inauguration et avant la réunification « Mémorial de l'Est allemand », a été inauguré le 16 juin 1961 sur la place Fischtor à Mayence à l'occasion du anniversaire du soulèvement populaire en ex-RDA du 17 juin 1953 avec l'inscription « L'Allemagne est indivisible ». Il contient principalement les noms des anciennes villes allemandes situées à l'est de l'Oder et de la Neisse, qui étaient alors sous administration polonaise ou russe, ainsi que des villes de l'ancienne République Démocratique Allemande.
