Le lavoir « la fontaine » se trouvait sur le lit initial du Gât Mort. Construit en 1882 sur la propriété du sieur Fournie, c’était, à l’époque, un lavoir privé. Toutefois, le conseil municipal estima ce bâtiment d’utilité publique et, après avis favorable du préfet, déclara le lavoir communal. Cela afin de pouvoir y apporter les réparations et l’entretien nécessaires.
