Le chœur, roman, de l’église date du 11° ou 12° siècle. Il s’est probablement, substitué à un lieu de culte plus ancien creusé dans le rocher.
La nef et le cimetière ont été remaniés en 1888 (construction d’un clocher avec Tribune).
Le retable est inscrit à l’inventaire des monuments historiques ; il provient de l’abbaye de Fongauffier aujourd’hui disparue. Au 17° siècle, cette œuvre d’art est consacrée à Saint Benoît et sa sœur, Sainte Scholastique.
