Aucun document ne nous donne l'époque de construction de la première église à Champigneulles. Pour ce qui est de l'édifice actuel, la première travée du choeur date de 1618 et la nef de 1774. En 1686, la communauté des habitants paya un maître charpentier-recouvreur afin de redresser et remettre d'aplomb la croix du clocher qui penchait et menaçait de tomber. En 1712, elle fit faire des travaux à la tour, au portail, dans le choeur et dans la nef. Cependant l'église s'avérait trop petite et il fut décidé, en 1772, de l'agrandir tout en conservant le choeur voûté.
